Bremen Wine Festival

To understand the importance of the Bremen Wine Festival, you should understand the spirit of the “Buten- un Binnenbremer” — as the citizens of Bremen are affectionately called. “Buten” and “Binnen,” are two words in plattdeutsch (the Northern German dialect) meaning “outside” and “inside.” These two words are part of a traditional Bremen saying that expresses the city’s collective entrepreneurial spirit: “Under roof or blue skies, he who dares wins the prize.”

The annual festival features vintners, restaurateurs, wine dealers, musicians and performers. Always during the 35th week of the year (the end of August / beginning of September), the Wine Festival presents the pleasures of Bacchus, both “Buten” and “Binnen:” Outside, on the Hillmann Square and our large festival patio, or inside, in our bistro. You are sure to find spot at the festivities on the square, but are advised to reserve a table for the Grashoff festival patio or Bistro.

For more information on the festival, or to present at the festivities, please contact us.
